Overseas Claims

Military Claims Act

Injuries suffered by US civilians overseas are covered under the Military Claims Act.  The Act provides that the injured person must file a claim with the appropriate military service depending on where the injury occurred.

The Military Claims Act also provides that once the Claim has been processed and an offer made to settle or denied by the appropriate military claims department, no lawsuit may be brought against the United States or the employee who caused the injury.  This alone make it very important to hire and retain an attorney skilled in the nuances of this Act.
